Famous Cameroonian artist Mama Nguea also known by her on-stage name Nguea Laroute finally died on Sunday, June 14, 2020. It should be noted that it has not been uncommon for many rumors about her death to resurface, only for them to be false. This was the case in September 2019, January 2020, and February 2020. Unfortunately, this is no longer a hoax as she was being taken to a Douala-based Mortuary.
It should be noted that Nguea Laroute has been a diabetic for more than 10 years. She even had her leg amputated last year as she battled diabetic complications. Two days before her demise, she went into a coma and only woke up on Friday, June 12, 2020. Her family and close friends thought she was getting better, only for her to die a few days after, on Sunday.
Mama Nguea will be remembered for her role in Cameroon's popular music genre, Makossa. May her soul rest in peace.
