Apply For a Cameroonian Resident Card Now (Step-By-Step)

What is a Resident Card?

The resident card is an identification document issued abroad admitted as a resident in Cameroon. Its validity is 10 years. The issue or renewal of the resident card is subject to the presentation, as the case may be:

a) For foreigners staying or admitted as residents 


  1. A residence card renewed for the third time or a resident card, at least one (01) month before the expiry of its validity; 
  2. A certificate of domicile, issued by the administrative authority or the Police Commissioner with territorial jurisdiction, bearing the prior and compulsory visa of the Head of district or village; 
  3. An extract from the Special Criminal Record; 
  4. An exact certified photocopy of the valid passport dated less than (03) months, wearing a long-stay visa; 
  5. Payment of stamp duty fixed by the finance law; 
  6. A tax certificate (or a photocopy of the patent title) is valid for the current fiscal year.


b) For members of religious congregations not subject to taxation


  1.  an act of recognition of the congregation; 
  2. an identification document attesting to the quality of member duly signed by the Head of the said congregation; 
  3. a certified photocopy of the valid passport dated less than (03) months; 
  4. a certificate of domicile, issued by the administrative authority or the police commissioner with territorial jurisdiction, bearing a prior and compulsory visa from the religious leader on whom the congregation depends; 
  5. An extract from the Special Criminal Record, where applicable


c) For the spouse of a person of Cameroonian nationality 


  1. a certified photocopy of the marriage certificate dated less than three (03) months;
  2.  an exact accredited photocopy of the valid passport dated less than three (03) months; 
  3. a certificate of domicile, issued by the administrative authority or the Police Commissioner with territorial jurisdiction, bearing the compulsory visa of the Head of district or village; an extract from the Special Criminal Record; 
  4. payment of stamp duty fixed by the finance law; 
  5. A tax certificate or a certified photocopy of the patent title valid for the current fiscal year.




How much does a Resident Card cost in Cameroon?


  1. 60,000 francs for religious and legitimate spouses of Cameroonians;
  2. 250,000 francs for Africans;
  3. 500,000 francs for the French;
  4. 700,000 francs for other nationalities;
  5. Free for those assimilated to members of the diplomatic corps.
