Sensational Video Sharing App Banned in India. Is India's stand on Social Apps so tough?
Sensational Social Media app TIkTok has been banned by the Indian government. It had been downloaded more than 240 million times in India alone. This move came as a result of a ruling of the regional court which determined that the app harbors pornographic content . It also said it opened a window for sexual predators to prey on teenage users.
Google took the app off of the Play Store in India on Tuesday while Apple subsequently took TikTok off of its App Store today.
The video sharing app is particularly popular amongst teenage users. Users typicall submit vidoes featuring user-karaoke-style singing , dancing and humour.
This ban follows a similar ban on PUB G in India.
The developer Bytedance based in China, is appealing the order.
